Update from Practice Manager
Posted or Updated on 5 Oct 2023
Please read an update from Practice Manager, Sue Geldart.
I thought it timely to give an update on some changes at the Practice and inform our patients of changes to our team.
As you may have heard Professor Fuat left the Practice at the end of June after many, many years of dedicated service to the Practice and our patients.
We have a new GP who joined the Practice in the middle of July, Dr Navdeep Jagra and he is settling in well.
We have four GP partners and a salaried GP. We also became a GP training Practice this year so we start our journey on training GPs of the future, our first GP trainee started in September.
We have appointed a Clinical Pharmacist to join the Practice team who will start in early November and we now have a First Contact Physiotherapist located in the Practice for 2 days per week (more when we can accommodate him)!
Our Practice Nurse and Nurse Practitioner team is fully staffed and we have just recruited a replacement Health Care Assistant who also starts in early November. Our reception/admin team are fully staffed and the newer members of the team are continuing to learn new skills as they embed themselves into our well established team.
We have made some changes to the management structure in the Practice and have appointed an Office Manager (due to start soon) and a Deputy Office Manager who is a well established member of the Practice team. There is a lot going on and this is just a snapshot of some of the changes we are making here at the Practice.
The results from the 2023 GP Patient Survey were much more positive than last year which was positive to feedback to the team here at Carmel Medical Practice. We recognise however that further improvements can be made and we will continue to act upon feedback whether it be surveys, complaints, suggestions and compliments so that we can continue to improve the services that we offer to our patients. The results of last year's GP Patient Survey is what influenced us to make fundamental changes to our telephony system, You Said, We Did....
Based on feedback from our patients we implemented a new telephony system last month and the aim is to improve patient experience by significantly reducing the time patients spend queuing for their call to be answered. It is still early days and we are adapting to the new system and continue to make tweaks as we learn more about its functionality and how we can improve further. We ask our patients to continue to bear with us and your feedback to date is invaluable.
Thank you.
